Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP )

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the purpose of International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBATM)
  • Review CBAP eligibility requirements and application process
  • Introduce the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK TM)
  • Understand the business analysis profession
  • Review and describe IIBA's knowledge areas
  • Understand the importance of requirements
  • Review Certified Business Application Professional (CBAP ) requirements and CBAP application process
  • Build on basics and gain thorough understand of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK )
  • Understand activities within the six knowledge areas identified in the BusinessAnalysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK )
  • Review inputs and outputs of each knowledge area
  • Familiarize with process steps andtechniques for key activity.
  • In-depth review of each knowledge area along with review of key questions from each knowledge Area

Course Content

  • Lesson 0: Introduction to IIBA and CBAP Lesson 1 reviews the purpose of the IIBA , CBAP Certification Requirements, CBAP Application Process and CBAP Exam Format.
  • Lesson 1: Introduction to BABOK - Lesson 1 defines the role of business analysis professional, and emphasizes how business analysis is a broader topic than requirements engineering. The lesson defines what is requirement and describes various types of requirements.

The six knowledge areas are covered in the following order:

  • Lesson 2: Enterprise Analysis
  • Lesson 3: Requirements Planning and Management
  • Lesson 4: Requirements Elicitation
  • Lesson 5A: Requirements Analysis and Documentation
  • Lesson 5B: Modeling Techniques – Data and Behavior Models
  • Lesson 5C: Modeling Techniques – Process / Flow Models
  • Lesson 5D: Modeling Techniques – Usage Models
  • Lesson 6: Requirements Communication & Solution Assessment and Validation
  • Lesson 7: Underlying Fundamentals (BA Skills)

Following learning structure and sequence is observed for Lesson 2 to Lesson 8:

  • Understand the context of knowledge area (inputs and outputs)
  • Describe the knowledge area
  • Review activities associated with the knowledge area
  • Understand predecessors, process steps and techniques associated with each activity
  • Take Self-Assessment Quiz in Class
  • Review Quiz Answers in Class
